PE and Sports Premium Funding 2018-19

In 2013 the Government provided additional funding to improve provision of PE and sport in Primary Schools. 

 

The continuation of this funding is essential and welcomed.

 

In recent years funding for schools have increased.  Schools are free to demonstrate how best to use this funding to improve the quality and breadth of sport provision.  The focus is on increasing participation in PE so that pupils have better life chances, healthy lifestyles and reach optimum performance.

 

Kates Hill Sports Premium Funding for 2017-18 is £19,510. Funding for 2018-19 is £19,570 – some of the facilities provided are Believe to Achieve lunchtime clubs, DPA dance, Tiny Tots and coaching from a Football

Academy.

 

Kates Hills Aims Are:

  • To raise the reputation of the school.

  • Develop quality PE lessons and raise aspirations and raise aspirations/achievement.

  •  Provide greater opportunities for whole school participation in a vast array of sporting activities.

  • To encourage emotional wellbeing and healthy living.

  • Provide social avenues for pupils to prosper.

 

Kates Hill have spent the Sports Premium on:

To employ our own specialist sports coach to cater for more pupils, increase sports premium, providing service for all. To provide extended school provision to provide wrap around service, breakfast club and tea club. To provide counselling. To provide CPD for class teachers and support PE. To provide lunch clubs. To ensure PE is at the heart of the curriculum and provide opportunities to increase knowledge. To improve opportunities for extra curricular activities. To raise Kates Hill opportunities to compete in competitive sport. To improve the EYFS area to provide resources to aid physical development. To forge local links to provide tournament and match facilities. To train peer supporters to encourage positive play.

 

To provide training for specialist support and programmes to be endorsed.

 

Additional funding will be allocated to support the national curriculum requirement that Year 6 can:

  • Swim competently 25 metres

  • Use a variety of strokes

  • Perform safe self rescue

  • To facilitate the Children’s University

 

The Impact of Sports Premium at Kates Hill

  • The profile of PE/sport at Kates Hill is increased.

  • Kates Hill are involved in competitive sport and have won competitions.

  • PE lessons are taught to a better standard.

  • Play time at break/lunch has improved.

  • Pupils have opportunities to do accredited courses.

  • Summer school.

  • Pupils have opportunities to have District Trials and be scouted.

  • Extended provision 2018-19, 8 – 13 pupils, Breakfast Club – 55 pupils and extended provision – 90% of pupils attend one club per week.
