At Kates Hill Primary School we are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of all children and young people both within the school environment and outside. Please find our safeguarding and child protection policies here.
The Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL)
The DSL lead is a member of the Senior Leadership Team and takes lead responsibility for child protection and wider safeguarding (including online safety), and will keep the Headteacher informed of any issues especially ongoing enquiries under section 47 of the Children Act 1989 and Police investigations.
Our DSLs is Mrs K Harvey (Headteacher) and Mrs M Hollis.
During term time, the DSL will be available during school hours for staff to discuss any safeguarding concerns. When the DSL is absent, the Deputy DSL’s Mrs M Ward, Mr L Waterfield (SENCO) and Mr D Cox (AHT) will act as cover.
We have appointed a designated teacher, Mr D Cox (AHT) who is responsible for promoting the educational achievement of looked-after children and previously looked-after children in line with statutory guidance. The designated teacher is appropriately trained and has the relevant qualifications and experience to perform the role.
